Mackenzi Paris Little
born Nov 24th at 9:25 am
7 lbs 8 oz 18 inches
she is adorable! we love her to pieces. Brooklin can't get enough kisses :) she looks SUPER similar to her sister, except this one has chubs. So cute!

BIRTH STORY (for those interested):

Labor started around 3:00 am. I thought it was gas, but then realized the gas was a bit crampy and kind of regular. Like every 7 minutes regular. I woke up Trent to let him know I was having REAL contractions instead of the fakeys I have for so long, and reminded him that doc wanted me to go in when the contractions were 5 minutes apart. I tried going back to sleep, but the contractions started to be a bit painful, so I mostly just walked around or curled up in bed for the first hour. At about 4 am they were 6 minutes apart, and more achey, so I decided to take a tub. It felt AWESOME. Then I showered and while I was showering I noticed the contractions seemed SUPER close. I finished and we timed the next couple contractions, which were 2-3 minutes apart. Yikes! That went quick. It was about 5 am at this point. We called my mom to come hang out at the house while Brooklin slept, and packed my bag. Once mom got there we took off, and were checked into our room (after doing the triage deal) by 6:30. Triage takes forever, by the way. The contractions were slowing down a bit, but I was dilated 5.5 cm and 80% thinned, so I opted for the epidural since I still had about half way to go and the pain was, um, uncomfortable of course :) After I had the epidural my water broke - and was still 5.5 cm. No progress. This was probably at like... 7:30 I'm guessing? AM, same day. The epidural started wearing off over the next hour and a half, and my nurse gave me a boost. He checked me at this point, which was about 8:30-9:00ish and I had progressed to a 9.5. He said the epidural boost most likely wouldn't do much for me, and to let him know if I started to feel any pressure. As soon as he left the room, I felt pressure. Trent called him, he came back, and he said that was the urge to push. He wanted me to wait through a couple more contractions so I could progress the rest of the way, and so that he could call me doctor and have her head over from the office. He said to expect to be pushing for 40 min to 4 hours. He said to let him know if the pressure was intense. He left the room again, and again, as soon as he left I felt INTENSE pressure. Trenton called him again, he came back, and checked me - I was a 10! Woo hoo! He said it was crazy how quickly I went from a 5.5 to a 10 - and he said he didn't anticipate a long delivery, but to still have in mind it could take a while to push. I told him the pressure was crazy hard and he said just wait a couple more contractions so your doctor can get here. I asked him at that point whether he could deliver the baby for me if need be, and he laughed and said yes he could. I was seriously annoyed that we were allowing this crazy pain to continue just so my doctor could be there. He came back after a few minutes and said I could try pushing. He and Trent held my legs and I pushed, 3 counts of ten. He told me to wait again, but the pressure was INSANE. I waited one more contraction - they held my legs again and I pushed 3 counts of ten again. My doctor came in some time between that pushing and the next. I remember them telling me to wait between that one and the next, and I couldn't. I pulled my own legs up and started to push. The baby came after that next push. So, 4 contractions of 3 pushes each - over about 15 minutes time. It was CRAZY fast, and Mackenzi was perfect. So adorable and chubby! I held her right away, before being cleaned etc. She was so cozy and snuggly, and I just loved feeling her ON me instead of IN me. Trent cut the cord, and they let me just hold her for the duration of afterbirth and stitches (I tore). Some people say the joy of seeing their little baby makes the afterbirth and stitches not even noticeable. NOT the case with me! The afterbirth wasn't TOO bad, nothing like childbirth, but not comfortable. The stitches, however, were horrible. I was crying and twitching and moaning. It was almost worse than childbirth. ALmost. When there were about 2 stitches to go, my doctor game me a couple shots of local anesthetic. So sweet of her to think of that. ha. :)

Alright, that's enough of that. The moral of the story is: I take after my mom. As soon I reach a 6, time flies. Pushing went crazy quick for Mackenzi, so I'm guessing perhaps even quicker for the next one (if there is a next one!) ha.

Mackenzi just had her first doctor visit today, and she gained all her birth weight back (she'd lost 3 oz) plus an additional 2 ounces. She's a pro eater, and she actually latched on after the 2nd try when she was less than an hour old. I'm super sore, but not as sore as I was with Brooklin, and this time around, the soreness goes away after she starts eating. She's still working out the whole night time/day time thing, but she is only 5 days old :) I'm sure it'll get better.

Also, we purchased a home and moved in the Saturday before Mackenzi was born - we LOVE it! We're just waiting to be able to settle in until our carpets get cleaned, which will happen on Thursday. Huzzah!

Congratulations! She had great timing, waiting until Trenton got back and you moved into your house. That is awesome labor went that well! My second was a very similar story and much much easier...and it will be easy to remember Mackenzi's birthday because it is Avery's too! Yay for Thanksgiving babies. Happy Recovery with that beautiful baby!!!
